Group Meeting #1 - Discussing Project Ideas
Today we did a group activity; we were divided into two groups of 8 and talked about our projects to get an opinion from our classmates about our project and get advice on how to improve.
First person to share his project idea was Gus. He had a really good and clear idea of what he wanted to do for his blog. He wanted to do a blog related to comedy and spices, getting inspiration from movies like “Bullet Train.” He was really interactive with the group, sharing his opinion and ideas, also helping to break the ice in the group so that we could move on with the project.
Second to present his blog was Sebastian. He told the group that when he heard about the project, he immediately had an idea that was turned down by Mrs. Stoklosa because the idea was too common and simple. After his idea got turned down, one of his friends he is working with had an idea to do their project related to cars and comedy. He told us that part of the info key might’ve been one of the project samples Mrs. Stoklosa had uploaded for us; it was the “Midnight” project sample by Dylan Tripoli. He was also really active. He shared his opinion and ideas a lot and helped as well breaking the ice in the group.
Third to present his project was Ishaan. He had an idea of a comedy film. The scene would start with his main character coming home, only to find his front door already open. So, as anyone would assume, he thought his house had been broken into. As he enters his house, he grabs the first thing that he sees and uses it as a weapon, which was an umbrella. That represents the physical comedy he wanted to add. The audience would find out that it was just the character’s friend surprising him. He didn’t participate as much as the others did, but he still gave good ideas and opinions.
Fourth to present his project was Vitor. He had a clear idea of what he wanted to do, sharing every single detail of it—what he wanted to do so much that I can’t remember all of it anymore. He wanted to do a project about an unsuccessful band that would get in trouble a lot for doing dumb stuff. One of Vitor's big problems was to be able to present his idea in the time limit of two minutes. But overall, I liked this idea a lot, and his participation in the group was really helpful.
Last one to present was Lina because we didn’t have enough time for more. Lina wants to make a coming-of-age movie. She doesn’t have a clear idea of how she is going to develop her idea of a coming-of-age movie yet, but she’s taking inspiration from Napoleon Dynamite and Lady Bird.
Overall, my group had a lot to say and I got a lot of inspiration for my project from them. Hopefully, next time we do this activity, I won’t be so shy to share my thoughts
